Tha Tien Market near Wat Pho, a tourist attraction, was deserted. The stores inside were all open for business, so perhaps it was just that the time of day we came was not a busy time. The stores were quietly displaying their wares for sale, and the shopkeepers seemed to be bored.
As I walked through the dimly lit aisles, I could smell a good smell wafting out of nowhere. I walked toward the smell and found a stove and a man wearing an apron standing over it. On the stove was a line of skewered fish. They were being grilled in a nice way. The source of the delicious smell was this fish.
In most markets, fresh food is sold, and there are usually restaurants and stalls where you can eat, but around this man in a checkered shirt, there were no tables or chairs. It looked like he could have had a hot grilled fish set meal, but it was not available here. Too bad.
