I seem to stand out in the Myo Ma Market and often get stares as I walk around. It is true that I am the only foreign tourist wandering around the market. There is no one walking around the market, not even for shopping. The only people here are either people doing business or people visiting the market for shopping.
As I walk around, looking at the products on display, people who notice me begin to stare at me. However, they are not talking to me. They are just looking at me from a distance. People's behavior in such situations differs considerably from country to country. If I were traveling in Bangladesh, Myanmar's neighbor, I would be instantly surrounded by locals, who would talk to me. In contrast, people in Myanmar do not reveal their curiosity.
The young man in the photo was an exception to the Myanmar people's modesty. The man who approached me with his curiosity exposed was puffing on his cigarette and gazing at me intently.
