The market bearing the same name in Bangkok's Khlong Toei district is vast, with stores lining the grounds. The main products sold here are foodstuffs, and the market is crowded with locals. I wandered around the market among the crowds.
There were many shoppers in every aisle. This is not a market for tourists, so most of the people walking around are locals who have come to stock up on foodstuffs. There were stalls selling snacks to fill the stomachs of those who had come to stock up. The man with the yellow apron in the photo is one of them.
He had a wagon in the middle of the aisle, selling steamed corn. The wagon was piled high with hot corn. If you look closely, you can see a steamer between the corn. The man steamed the corn here and sold it on the spot.
The man grabbed the steamed corn with his bare hands and placed it on the wagon. I think the freshly steamed corn is hot, but the man seems to be familiar with it. He was placing the corn on the wagon in a single bound. It seems that Kotaro Sawaki also visited Krong Thuy District in the past. This is mentioned in his masterpiece, "Midnight Express."
