Although there were many cars on the main streets of Bago, there were not many vehicles that appeared to be private cars. Most of them were either bus-like passenger cars carrying passengers or trucks carrying luggage. For ordinary people in Myanmar, private cars are probably still too expensive.
When I stopped by the side of the road, many passenger cars would come and stop, and after passengers got in, they would leave again for somewhere else. The vehicle in the photo was one such busy transport carrying passengers. This vehicle was a converted motorcycle, with a seat in the back for passengers to climb into. At first glance, it looked like a three-wheeler, but the front part of the vehicle had the handlebars of an unmistakable motorcycle, and a young man was straddling the tank, a remnant of the motorcycle. The driver noticed me during our brief stop and smiled for the camera.
