The side of the main road was not marked with any signs, but it seemed to be a bus stop, and buses converted from trucks and motorcycles came and stopped incessantly. As soon as the bus stopped, the waiting passengers got on their seats, and as soon as they were all on board, the bus started running again. Bago is the central town of the Bago region, with a population of over 280,000. In Japan, the population is about the same as that of Aomori City. The center of the town is crowded with people.
The man in the photo is a bus driver who comes here frequently. Like other buses, he stops his vehicle on the side of the road and waits for passengers to board. The time he spends at the bus stop is probably a break for the driver. The man seemed to be somewhat out of it, but he was gripping the steering wheel and staring ahead, ready to depart at any moment. The man was driving a small bus with just a cargo bed and seats attached to the back of a motorcycle, so in no time at all the passengers were on board and the seats were full. The driver then drove off, leaving the break time behind him.
