I walked around in the market and decided to go outside. I think this place was the center of Bago, but there were no tall buildings around, there were only two-story buildings lined up along the road. And the ground floor of the low-rise building was used for shops, and there were many food stalls along the roadside as well. The road was wide, but there were no cars on it. It seemed to be a pedestrian mall. As it was early evening, the street was crowded with housewives who came to shop for ingredients for dinner and students who had finished school.
Parasols were placed in front of every shop to protect them from the strong sunlight. In contrast to the dirty and dull color of buildings along the street, parasols were colorful. People in Myanmar seemed to prefer brightly colored parasols as well as their clothes. If this area was redeveloped, the whole street might be colored like Myanmar people. Thinking about this, I stopped on the side of the road and watched the traffic for a while.
