After my stay in Tainan, I returned to Taipei. My destination that day was Taipei 101. At over 500 meters tall, the building is taller than the Sky Tree in Tokyo. It is the tallest building in Taiwan and the second tallest in the world after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Incidentally, the name “101” is apparently derived from the fact that the building has 101 floors.
I went to the outdoor observation deck on the 91st floor. From here, you can see the whole city of Taipei. The ground was supposed to be filled with buildings, and people were supposed to be busy moving around among them. But we were too high up to find any moving figures.
I could just see the layout of buildings and streets spread out like a geometric pattern. Gazing at this inorganic scene, I felt somewhat detached from reality. The world I could see from here seemed completely different from my usual life.
