The historic town of Moulay Idriss is built on top of a hill, isolated on a plain. The buildings are crammed together on the hillside and the fertile plains spread out on the other side of the town.
There is a large structure in the town. The large green-roofed building is the mausoleum of King Idries I, the founder of the Idries dynasty. I was curious to see what the inside of the mausoleum looked like, but that was not possible. Unfortunately, infidels are not allowed to enter the mausoleum. This town is a sacred place for Moroccan Muslims, and it used to be that infidels were not allowed even in the town itself. It was not possible in some times to view the town in this way.
