I came to another store. The street in Chinatown is bustling with people, selling a variety of foods. Even if you don't buy anything, it is fun just to look at what is being sold. It is not only ingredients for Chinese cuisine that are lined up in the stores. Various kinds of fruits were also lined up on the shelves. Thailand is a tropical country. Tropical fruits are sold everywhere.
The store I peeked into also had tropical fruits on the table. It was a large fruit, which is not so common in Japan. I thought it might be durian, but there was no strong smell in the air. A woman standing by the side of the table was peeling off the fruit. The fruit had been almost completely removed and was not in its original shape.
Even though I did not intend to buy the fruit, my curiosity was not satisfied once I started to pay attention to it. I asked the person who was peeling the fruit, but I couldn't understand her answer because it was in Thai. There was nothing I could do, so I continued to stare at it. Suddenly, I realized that this was jackfruit, the world's largest fruit.
