Not all workers at the Myo Ma Market had stores inside the market. Some of them were doing business by laying out their products on the ground. These people may have their main business in a place other than the market. I don't really know, but the man in the photo was one of those who worked in the market without setting up a store.
The man wearing a hat like a pith helmet was sitting in the middle of the aisle selling vegetables. He had a row of vegetables for sale in front of him. When the man noticed my camera, he began to look straight at me with a powerful gaze. As I was taking my shutter while meeting his gaze, a Buddhist monk passed by behind the vegetable seller. The monk was carrying a large alms bowl under his arm. It seemed that he had come to the market to beg for alms.
The Buddhist monk, clad in a monk's robe, walked away without even a glance at my camera. Like Japan, there are many Buddhists in Myanmar, but unlike Japan, the mainstream is Theravada Buddhism. For this reason, it is not unusual to see monks begging for alms in the streets.
