A large number of Buddhist monks in orange robes were walking along the road where the stillness of the early morning was still dominant. They were begging for alms in the morning, a specialty of Luang Prabang. As I watched, a line of monks came up to women sitting upright on the sidewalk. They receive alms from the congregation on the side of the road.
The women took something from the basket in their hands and handed it to the monks. The monks who received them put them in the alms bowls they were holding. Since the exchange was done one by one, there was a bit of a traffic jam in front of the women. The monks in the back were waiting their turn.
