A small stream flowed through a residential area near Yangon Central Station, where modest houses are densely built. Unlike the alleys winding their way between houses, the creek flows straight. It looked artificial. I don't know if it is or not, but it must have been made straight as a result of urban planning.
The contrast between the residential area, where houses are built in a haphazard manner, and the stream, which flows straight and has no place for stagnant water, is striking. The stream that stretches straight ahead may be reason existing alone in the midst of disorder. It is hard to live in a world where only reason exists.
There was a small general store by the creek. The store itself was not visible from where I was standing. Instead, I saw a woman in longies standing next to the store. She seemed to be talking with someone inside the store. After a while, the woman was laughing hysterically, squinting her eyes.
