Meknes, where the capital of the Alaouite dynasty was located from 1675 to 1728, also has an old town called Medina. Surrounded by walls, the old town still retains its old-fashioned streets and has become a tourist attraction. It is also registered as a World Heritage Site, so tourists from all over the world come to visit.
The man in this photo was working at a souvenir shop in the old town. He was wearing a knit cap and was sitting on a chair in front of his store. He seemed to be bored. I looked at him, and when I pointed my camera at him, he responded casually and smiled broadly. He was a cheerful man.
By the way, the old city is often called Medina, but it is originally a common noun meaning "town" in Arabic. However, in North Africa, it is sometimes used to mean "old town". Medina in Meknes is also used to mean the old town of Meknes.
