Like Mae Klong station, which is a tourist attraction, Mahachai station was also a terminal station. The track starts from here and extends to Bangkok. I saw a train stop at the end of the track. But this is not the train I'm going to take to Bangkok. There was no indication that the train would start moving in a little while. Perhaps it was a spare car.
While I was standing on the hot and humid platform, people started coming in here and there. It was probably nearing train time. I couldn't find anyone who seemed to be immersed in a traveling mood like me. They looked like locals who regularly used this train. People were quietly waiting for the train to arrive here and there on the platform. People sitting on benches under the roof were silhouetted. Most of the people waiting were, inevitably, fiddling with their phones.
Even as I stared at the tracks in my spare time, the tracks in the station looked wavy even from a distance. I was worried that the train might derail if it sped up. I wanted to be at peace on the way to Bangkok, and I told myself it must have been my imagination.
