There was no particular reason for me to wander around Mahachai station. I was just wandering around because I had some time before my train to Bangkok. The number of trains departing from this station is not that many, though it is more than Mae Klong station. I was waiting for a train to come to the station, but the train didn't come, so I was just hanging around the station.
When I came back to the station, I could see a few people waiting for the same train that I was planning to board. Even on the dimly lit platform, I could see locals waiting. There was no such thing as an air-conditioned waiting room. Everyone was waiting in the muggy afternoon air as if they were doing the hard work. No one was talking, perhaps too languidly.
The girl in this photo was one of those waiting as well. She sat alone on a stone bench and waited idly. I didn't know if she was waiting to get on the train or if she was waiting for someone else to come along on the train. Either way, the way she was holding her head in her hands told me that she was getting tired of waiting.
A closer look revealed that the girl was wearing a Girl Scout uniform. It seems that the Girl Scouts are organized here in Thailand as well.
