It was a beautiful day. The soft sunlight was pleasant. Even so, not much sunlight reached the street we were walking on. The road was blocked by towering buildings on both sides of the street, and the street was speckled with sun and shade. People were walking along the street as if they were naturally blending into the speckled pattern.
As I looked at the people on the street, some were in the shade and looked like silhouettes, while others were in the sun and shining as if bathed in a spotlight. In such contrasts, one wonders how the trees on the street really feel about day and night. Unlike humans, roadside trees cannot move to seek the sun by themselves. Perhaps they think that night lasts a very long time in this place.
