Wherever there is a building, there is always an elevator lobby, equipped with buttons and displays, and an entrance for boarding the elevator. While some elevators were built when elevators were still a rarity in Japan, such as the one in the Takashimaya Nihonbashi store, the elevator lobbies in most buildings are not so assertive. This is probably because the shops and offices on each floor and the people who work in them are the stars of the building, and the lifts themselves play a supporting role.
In other words, the lifts in Tokyo's Nihonbashi Tower, which rises out of Nihonbashi, are a rare example of a lift hall that makes a strong statement. The first thing you notice is that the often brightly lit lift lobby is dimly lit. This is because the lighting is installed through frosted glass. As a result, the room is indirectly lit and the color tones create a dramatic setting. If the Indiana Jones theme were playing here, you would feel like a hero who has achieved something, even if he has achieved nothing.
