I was waiting for a train at Ikenoue station. This is the third station from Shibuya station on the Inokashira Line, and it is a small station where only local trains stop. Again, I waited on the platform, but no train came to stop. Even when I thought it was coming, it seemed to be an express train, and it rushed past the station. After watching the train go by, I finally saw a train stop, but this time it was going in the opposite direction from where I was headed.
It was dusk and the shadows were long. The shadows of the people waiting on the platform were long, and so were the shadows of the arriving train. The platform was completely covered by the long shadow of the incoming train. And the silhouettes of people boarding the train were moving in the shadow.
It was a small station, so the train did not stop for long. After swallowing all the passengers, the train quickly closed its doors and drove away. The small station in the middle of a residential area seemed to have a hole in it once the train had gone. Then the languid sunlight began to fill the hole again.
