The narrow street leading to Sampeng Market was bustling with activity. This market is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangkok. Stores are lined up on both sides of the road, and not only are many shoppers walking around, but there are also street vendors setting up store here and there. The market is crowded.
Street vendors set up tables and wagons in front of other people's stores to do business. Depending on how you look at it, it may seem as if they are obstructing other people's business. Either the store owners are generous enough to allow them to do business in front of their own stores, or they are settling for money. Well, perhaps it is the latter.
Either way, working makes you hungry, whether you have a storefront or not. The two street vendors who passed by as we were walking must have been hungry, too. They were having lunch by the aisle. The street vendors could not leave without leaving their goods behind, so they seemed to have taken delivery of their food. They were eating their food with a crunch next to their wares. One woman was chewing with her mouth wide open.
