There are a lot of food stalls on Hayam Wuruk Street in Jakarta. It is a big street with a bus lane and a lot of pedestrians, so it must be suitable for doing business on the street. Especially near the bus stop, there were several mobile food stalls lined up. The stall in the photo was one of them.
The stall that stood in the middle of the sidewalk, as if claiming the sidewalk as its own, seemed to be thriving, and there were two men working there. One was standing in front of the mobile stall, which was used as a cooking area, while the other was watching a large pot set on top of a gas cylinder at the side of the stall. The work seemed to be divided between those who cut the ingredients and those who fry them. This was a bit surprising since most of these mobile food stalls are run by one person.
There were a number of motorcycles parked around the stall. The stall has just begun its business, but this stall might soon become a hangout for motorcycle cabs. Motorcycle cab drivers often hang out around the stalls on the side of the road. In the city of Jakarta, stalls play a role like an insect repellent for motorcycle cab drivers.
