I took the subway in Bangkok and came to Khlong Toei station. The Bangkok subway is one of four lines operating in Southeast Asia. The only other cities with subway lines are Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Manila. The fact that there is a subway system in Bangkok is proof of the city's development.
I came to Khlong Toei Station to visit the large Khlong Toei Market near the station. Although it is the nearest station to the market of the same name, Khlong Toei station is not so close to the market. It was about a 10-minute walk from the station.
On the way to the market, I climbed up a pedestrian bridge to cross a large street and finally saw the roof of the market. The tin roof continued. Underneath were rows of perishable foodstuffs, and the locals must be wriggling around in search of food. As I gazed at the roofs with this thought in mind, I noticed a red umbrella lying on top of one of them.
I might not say it was falling because it was on the roof. But it looked like it had fallen. I wondered who had put it there. Perhaps it was the umbrella that Mary Poppins had left behind.
