As I am not interested in the merits of Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines in Japan, I couldn't care less about them when I visited the Sanfong Temple in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. There are so many more eye-catching things hanging in the temple grounds that if it weren't for me, one wouldn't have cared what they were. The Sanfong Temple is famous for its countless red round lanterns, which are very photogenic.
The lanterns line the overhead space in front of the main hall and can be viewed from below or from above by climbing up the surrounding buildings. I also watched from above. The lanterns hung at equal intervals reminded me of a mass game. The lanterns lined up without any gaps between them looked like people standing in a line. The lanterns were lined up in a neat and orderly manner, and although they were not moving, they looked like a mass game in North Korea, with every inch of the lanterns in perfect order. And the animal-shaped decorations on the roof seemed to be looking down on them from on high.
