Buddhist Monk Standing In Front Of The Shutter

Buddhist monk standing in front of shutter

A begging monk stood there

Shot in the city of Ueno, Tokyo.

The shops were shuttered and a Buddhist monk stood in front of one of the shutters. He was wearing a conical hat and holding a khakkhara, a Buddhist ringed staff in his hand. He was not meeting his friend there. He was an ascetic monk and asking for alms.

The place he stood was busy. Yet most of the pedestrians passed by him as if nothing had happened. However, he kept standing still unemotionally.
