Leaving the huge market, I started to head for my hotel. I walked silently. It was still hot. Yet the city of Bangkok was a nice place to walk around. Because it was built on the Chao Phraya delta, it was slope-free. When I walked the streets, I felt as if the flat landscape went on forever. To ramble along this city was easy.
However, most of the locals seemed not to prefer to walk. The streets were crowded with automobiles. Walking the wide street, I found some people standing on the opposite side. They stood on the edge of the sidewalk and watched the traffic. They waited for a bus to come. Seemingly, the bus was a long time coming.
