Bogyoke Aung San Market is one of the most touristy places in Yangon. The stores are all souvenir shops for tourists, and I was often accosted by touts as I walked around. It is difficult to walk quietly alone. This kind of situation is not common in other markets in Yangon. The workers must think that tourists like me are wallets from which money comes out. The only saving grace is that the people are still not accustomed to tourists. I don't get pestered with sales pitches.
In any case, it was a hassle to be sold something I had no intention of buying, so I walked around the edge of the market to avoid it. Although there are many souvenir shops in this area, there are almost no touts. In the meantime, I came across the man in the photo. He was sitting on the floor of a souvenir store with a box on his lap containing postcards for sale. The man did not show any interest in me, but continued to gaze happily at the postcards for sale.
