A temple stands near the Royal Palace in Bangkok. The hall, with pillars called Lak Mueang standing inside, is a very small one. However, in inverse proportion to its size, the temple has attracted a great deal of faith, and many people visit it to pray.
However, I did not have any particular wish to make, so as I observed the people praying one by one, I got to know all the people inside and soon there was nothing more to do. I was getting bored, so I decided to step out of the hall. As I stepped out, the sun was shining powerfully in the distance above my head. As I wandered around Lak Mueang, basking in the strong sunlight, I noticed a large jar.
The inside was filled with clear water and lotus leaves were floating on the surface. The sunlight was shining brilliantly on the surface of this jar. There was a single lotus flower in the bottle. It was a large jar, but this was the only flower that peeked out. There was nothing to block the sky above the flower. Beyond the flower, I could see the entrance to Lak Mueang.
