There were several large jars lined up by the side of the road. They were big enough to hold a child. This is the kind of country that has the Plain of Jars. While the stone jars of the Plain of Jars were used as urns or containers for storing food, these jars are used as water jars in each household.
Here in Pyay, there are many houses that do not have running water. The hotel I stayed at had running water, but when I walked to the outskirts of city, I found that people were drawing water from wells on the street corners and storing it in large jars like this one.
The men were loading jars on the ground onto the truck over there. They might be on their way to deliver these jars somewhere.
