The Great Buddha of Kamakura is famous, but the temple where it is located is not so famous. Many people may not even know its name. The name of the temple where the Great Buddha of Kamakura is located is Kotoku-in.
Unlike the Great Buddha in Nara, the Great Buddha of Kamakura is located outdoors. It seems that it used to be indoors, but the Great Buddha Hall collapsed about 600 years ago. Since then, for hundreds of years, it has been sitting outdoors in the rain and wind.
When I looked at the Great Buddha, I saw that it makes symbolic signs with the fingers on his knees in a fixed seal. Perhaps it is because of this sign that it is able to remain calm in the wind and rain.
