Kamakura is a city in the southeastern part of Kanagawa Prefecture, facing Sagami Bay to the south. It is surrounded by hills and valleys on three sides. The Kamakura shogunate was established here, and there are many historical sites, shrines, and temples, as well as cultural assets, including the ruins of the shogunate, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Kenchoji Temple, Enkakuji Temple, the Great Buddha of Hase-no-Buddha, and Hase-no-Kannon. Yuigahama-Zaikiza Beach is a popular beach for swimming.
