Smile At The Other Side Of Incense Burner

Smiling face on other side of incense burner

A smiling face was seen on the other side of the incense burner

Shot at Kotoku-in, a Buddhist temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa.

An incense burner with holes placed in front of the Great Buddha. It is said that the Great Buddha was completed in 1243. Yet this incense burner seemed not to be old same as the statue. It was covered by the metal stencil and there were some holes to put incenses into it.

When I looked into one of the holes, I could find a figure on the other side. A young girl was standing there. She was smiling on the other side of the incense burner.
