I was wandering through the alleys near Yangon Central Station. The houses were densely packed together, and a maze of narrow alleys stretched between them. In contrast to central Yangon, which is being rapidly redeveloped, this place seems to be just as it used to be. It will probably take some time for the trickle-down effect of redevelopment to reach this area.
When I came to a house, I found a girl standing alone at the front door. She has probably returned home from school after today's classes. She was still wearing her green frilly school uniform. Schools in this area seem to favor the color green for school uniforms. Not only the students I saw in the center of Yangon, but also those I saw in Thanlyin and Dalah were all wearing green-based uniforms. Perhaps there is some meaning in the color green.
Looking closely, I noticed that the girls were wearing their uniform shirts, but they had changed their underwear. Instead of the uniform skirt, she was wearing her regular pants. It was a bit odd to see her face under her shirt with her worn trousers pointing at her face.
