While walking down an alley, a slightly open door caught my eye. I casually peeked in and saw what appeared to be an altar. A hanging scroll hung on the wall, and beneath it were carved wooden statues and small ceramic vases. I don't know what kind of religion it was, but there was a somber atmosphere in the air. In that empty space, there was only silence and the weight of time.
There are countless temples scattered throughout Tainan. However, not all of them are open to the public. Some are private temples built by specific clans or local communities. This place must be one of them. If the doors were closed, one would not notice that this was a temple. But if you caught a glimpse of it, the charm that compelled you to stop was leaking out of the open door.
