The medium-rise building lined both sides of the streets in the downtown. Most of the ground floors were used as spaces for a shop. And the upper floors seemed to be dwelling places. Watching the entrances, I couldn't find an elevator in any buildings. In most cases, a steep staircase rose immediately after entering the buildings. And I often saw local people sitting on the bottom of the staircase. Sometimes, the locals used the bottom of the stair used a bench by the roadside.
The girl in this photo also sat on the middle step. When I walked by, I caught her eye. She wore vivid purple clothes and Thanaka was painted on her face like other locals. Seemingly, she was picky about the way of painting. The traces of the brush extended transversally on her face.
