A girl peddling on the streets of Yangon. She was on the verge of falling, but the head of her nose and cheeks were smeared with white. That's Thanaka. It's a sunscreen or the equivalent of a cosmetic, and many people in Myanmar apply it to their faces. People with white-painted faces are walking here and there in the city, and I felt very uncomfortable until I got used to it.
When I pointed the camera at the young girl, she looked a little dubious. She turned her scowling face to the camera. But the camera caught her in the viewfinder.
