The morning market held every morning is quite different from the night market held at night. While Luang Prabang's night market is geared toward tourists, the morning market is geared toward locals and is full of stores selling fresh food. At a fishmonger's store I passed, I saw fine river fish caught in the Mekong River for sale.

Laos is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. It is rare to have a chance to eat fish from the sea. A woman at a fishmonger's shop was cutting the fish on the other side of the row of fish. There was no description of the fish, let alone a price tag. I wondered what the name of the fish was.
