Crossing the Sumida River from Tsukuda, which used to be an island, we came to Akashi-machi. Stopping along the riverside, I took in the scenery. The Sumida River flows quietly, and there is a promenade along the river where people sometimes take a stroll. It is a nice day for a stroll. It is said that there used to be a foreign settlement in Akashi-machi, but nothing remains of it. Today, the streets are so plain that it is hard to believe that many foreigners once lived here.
As I gazed along the river, a shadow appeared below me. The figure strode along the river, and its shadow strode along the ground as well.
