The ferry was crowded. Many people were sitting in plastic chairs on the deck, and peddlers were weaving their way among the passengers. The woman in the photo is one of the peddlers on the ferry. This woman was also busy weaving in and out of the crowd of passengers.
She was selling melons. She was walking dexterously with a tray of melon slices on her head. The ferry only crosses to the other side of the Yangon River, so the ride is not very long. In order to get people to buy them during that short time, the woman was walking around shouting out her sales pitch. The deck was noisy.
