There was nothing in particular that I wanted to buy, nor was there a restaurant that I wanted to try. I walked around Chinatown aimlessly. I just wanted to soak up the atmosphere of Bangkok. Although the streets were not complicated, I soon lost my sense of direction as I walked.
In the meantime, I came to a dimly lit alley. Stores lined both sides of the alley. The roof overhead is like an arcade, probably to make it easier to shop even on rainy days. But there were no shoppers, and the stores were all shuttered. The dimly lit alley was deserted.
I continued on, thinking that perhaps this alley used to be busy in the past. Even in the dim light, I could see a glimpse of people. As I walked along, a man pushing a busy cart passed me. I felt a bit of the bustle of Chinatown coming into the dimly lit, deserted alley.
