A big cage was placed next to a butcher cutting chickens. And some chickens were housed in it. The chickens were carried alive directly from chicken farms to the street market. They didn't go through any slaughterhouses. The chicken meat sold in this street market could be so fresh.
However, I saw many butchers cutting chicken meat but I have never seen any butcher slaughtering in the markets in Yangon. Their dying screams were not heard during walking around. At any rate, the screams were incongruous in the tranquil local market. I wondered when the butchers slaughtered. Maybe, they did in a place where the shoppers couldn't keep an eye on. Or the butchers were so skillful that the chicken couldn't even have time to scream.
