I saw palms in the cage. If you look closely, you can also see the child's face next to it. This cage is not meant to carry people who have committed crimes. It was attached to the back of a bicycle and used to transport children to and from school. Therefore, the people in the cage were all children about the age of elementary school students in Japan. When I walked around Berhampore, I often saw bicycles with cages like this one, so I guess they are common in this area. Many, if not all, elementary school children ride these bicycles to and from school. It is a school bicycle, not a school bus.
