The sun began to set as I walked around Dihua Street. The soft twilight light softly enveloped the street, and the road surface was shining in a golden color. The cars running on the street were silhouetted like shadow puppets. On the streets, many people were hurrying home.
But home is not here for me. My home was far from here, and it was still a little too early to return to my temporary residence. So I just stopped and looked at the twilight-tinted road.
As I looked at the scene, I could feel that the day was quietly drawing to a close. And suddenly I was reminded of my childhood. I don't know why. What I see in front of me now is a foreign landscape, yet scenes of my hometown come to the surface as if dredged up from my memory. Perhaps twilight has some mysterious power. It is as if it gently draws in and hands over to me emotions that I had almost forgotten.
