I peeked inside a shabby eating place on the side of the road in Malda and saw a bunch of men sitting at a table. They were having a late lunch. This was a town in the Indian state of West Bengal. The dish they were eating was, of course, curry. When I pointed my camera at the men eating curry in the eating place, the two men in the foreground smiled shyly, and the man in the background gave me a challenging look.
In India, the curry itself is usually eaten with the hands, but the soup served with the curry is ate with a spoon, as the man in the back of the photo is doing. It is difficult even for Indian people to eat the liquid soup with their hands.
At any rate, everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. The curry in this eating place must be delicious. Although there are many differences in eating etiquette, it must be common to all countries to feel happy when eating good food.
