It seems to be the norm for everyone to eat only what they want and when they want it. Eating individually is also the norm in the workplace, and this man was eating alone.

The man's coworkers didn't care what the man ate, but two cats did. Two cats seemed to have caught a whiff of what the man was eating and were sitting in front of him, looking like they wanted a share. Cats have a sense of smell that is about 200,000 to 270,000 times better than humans, though not as good as dogs. If they smell something delicious nearby, it's hard to hide it.

The man seems to be a kind person. He was eating his own food and also giving his share to these cats. The man picked up a piece of food from his plate and tossed it to the cat, who munched on it. The cat seemed to be used to this kind of situation and didn't approach the man rudely. They were sitting one step lower than where the man was sitting, waiting for him to share his food with them. Perhaps they eat together every day.
