A couple was standing across a long corridor lined with tatami mats. They were looking out of the window at a garden called Suikeien garden.
There are two main types of Japanese gardens: those that are luxurious and built for entertainment, such as the gardens of feudal lords, and those that are built in Buddhist temples and represent the spiritual world. This is a Nichiren Shu temple, so of course the garden is the latter. It is difficult to describe the spiritual world in material terms. It is almost always difficult for me to realise what it means. Most of the time, my impression ends up being "it's beautiful".
