Wood Carving In Shibamata Taishakuten

wood carving in Shibamata Taishakuten

Various expressions were seen in the carvings

Shot at Shibamata Taishakuten, a Buddhist temple in Shibamata, Tokyo.

The Taishakudo, one of the buildings of this temple was surrounded by the wood carvings which showed stories from the Lotus Sutra. These wood carvings were not so old. They were completed 1934.

Unfortunately, I didn't know about the Lotus Sutra. So I couldn't understand what kind of scene the wood carvings expressed. Apparently, the man on the right side was unwilling to do something. He might be asked a favor of a messy affair.
