The woman was waiting at a traffic light on a scooter and was looking at her phone screen
Several motorcycles were waiting at a traffic light. A woman wearing a black helmet and mask was stopped at the front of the group. The woman's bike is slightly over the white line, and although she is alongside the other motorcycles, there is something different about her. While all the motorcyclists around her were staring at the light, as if waiting for the moment it would turn green, the woman was the only one with her gaze turned in the other direction.
What the woman was looking at was the screen of her phone. Even in the mere dozens of seconds before the signal changed, she apparently could not let go of her phone. I don't know what she is looking at, but she is looking at the screen as if to spare a brief moment.
Watching her, I feel like I am catching a glimpse of a scene from our modern age, where smartphones are everywhere in our daily lives. Her inability to calm down without checking information and contacts even in those short moments reminded me of the so-called “smartphone addiction."

数台のバイクが信号待ちをしている。先頭には黒いヘルメットを被り、マスクをした女性が停まっていた。女性のバイクは白線を少し越えており、他のバイクたちと並んでいるが、どこか違う雰囲気を漂わせている。周囲のバイクの運転手たちは皆、青信号に変わる瞬間を待つように信号を見つめている中、その女性だけは視線を別の方向に向けていた。

女性の視線の先にあったのは、自分のスマホの画面だった。信号が変わるまでのほんの数十秒の間でさえ、彼女はスマホを手放せないらしい。何を見ているのかは分からないが、短い時間を惜しむように画面を眺めている。
彼女の様子を見ていると、日常生活の至るところにスマホが入り込んでいる現代の一場面が垣間見える気がする。その短い瞬間にさえ、情報や連絡を確認しなければ落ち着かない彼女の姿は、いわゆる「スマホ中毒」を思わせるものだった。
