This area is one of the old towns in Tokyo. Once there was an entertainment district here and it formed the setting of some novels, for example, 'Bokuto-kidan' by Kafu Nagai. Yet it became desolate. The modest residential area spread now. Some old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples stood silently in this area.

In 2012, a tower appeared in this tranquil area. It is the Tokyo Skytree, the second tallest structure in the world. Because there are no tall buildings around it, it towered alone. And it seemed big in an extraordinary way.

It could be seen from everywhere in this area as if it reigned supreme. When I walked the street between low-rise buildings, the Tokyo Skytree was seen stretching to the sky.
