Bicycle taxis, called cycle rickshaws, are common in Bangladesh. All the locals use them to get around town. It's the same in the capital city of Dhaka, where there is always a cycle rickshaw on every street and a queue of cycle rickshaws on the main streets.
Fares are cheap and you can enter any narrow street. It's very convenient also for travelers, too, but it's a pity that many rickshaw wallahs don't understand English. I wish I could learn to speak Bengali, but it's not going to be easy. There are 7 single vowels, 7 nasal vowels, and 32 consonants. From the Japanese point of view, Bengali has a complicated pronunciation.
