It was cherry blossom viewing season, so the Shinjuku Gyoen Park was full of people having picnics. This is probably the most crowded time of the year in this park. The lawn, which usually looks so spacious, looked so small on this day because it was occupied by so many cherry blossom viewers.
But the truth is that for most of the visitors, the cherry blossoms are just an excuse. What they really want is that better fill a man's belly than his eye. Now and then, there are still many people who prefer drinking to flowers. Many of them are happily drinking sake while ignoring the blossoms. Only the children, who were not involved in drinking, were playing happily under the cherry trees.
