From the top of a large pedestrian bridge, I could clearly see the crosswalk near Iidabashi Station. There were several white lines drawn parallel to the ground, and pedestrians were walking on them. The signal for pedestrians was green. The shadows were crossing the road with them, snuggled up to the humans.
No one stopped in the middle of a crosswalk. Still, people appeared one after another and occupied the crosswalk. When the traffic light changed to red, that look changed drastically. Those who hadn't yet crossed the street hurriedly disappeared to the other side of the street as if they had scattered spider webs. And then the crosswalk was empty, and a car drove by.
